As we look forward to a healthier 2022, further understanding of the ins and outs of healthcare will guide you through your insurance browsing.
What is an HMO?
An HMO is short for a health maintenance organization. HMOs are the ones that give users access to accredited hospitals, clinics, doctors, and specialists under its network. Examples of HMOs include Maxicare, PhilCare, iCare, and more.
What is a comprehensive plan?
A comprehensive plan is an all-inclusive healthcare plan covering emergencies, hospitalizations, physical & diagnostic exams, consultations, and other preventive care benefits.
Is it separate from Philhealth benefits?
It depends on the type of health plan you get. Some plans offer full coverage on top of your Philhealth benefits. Others have integrated coverage, which means you can expect an additional 10-20% from your Philhealth benefits on top of your MBL.
What is a maximum benefit limit?
An MBL or Maximum Benefit is the consumable amount each health plan offers for medical treatments and procedures. You can be treated for multiple ailments as long as you don’t exceed your MBL.
What is a prepaid card or plan?
In comparison to comprehensive plans, the prepaid card offers sachet-type coverage. Each card may cover a specific medical concern, such as emergencies, hospitalizations, consultations, and more. These are also affordable and can be bought in bundles.
